The USA: Based on Hope and Faith

Published by vphipps at 4:41 pm under news Edit This

The USA is based on hope and faith. History states that traditionally, leaders of our nation who managed to inspire Americans to see through a view of hope and faith, made America great. It was our forefather’s hope of achieving the American dream that led to the faith it takes to make the dream a reality for so many today. Let’s not forget that the American dream was meant to be seen through a diversified view.Americans are and have been traditionally brave, and we tend to face what makes us afraid. Courageously, we face our mistakes and strive to find new and improved views to look through. Once we’ve survived enough hard times, we tend to open our eyes and minds. That’s why so many were able to see and believe in the insightful view Obama gave to bring hope and faith back into our American view.

The hope and faith Obama gave is why anyone who took the time to watch the news on election night cried with the memory of Martin Luther King’s dream in our minds. Hope and the need for change was the reason we could clearly see why Obama has already improved the world’s view of the USA and what we still stand for today. The whole world has seen what we’ve survived. They’ve seen our integrity, dignity and grace, but they’ve also seen our disgrace. Historically, they’ve watched us go through a civil liberty crisis or two. The world has been a witness to the corruption that comes from Americans who forget there’s a difference between power and arrogance. Then again, the world is watching today, and once again we are beginning to revolve around the hope it takes to find the faith to believe we can do anything, and as the man said, “Yes we can.”

Besides, anyone old enough to remember what it was like before Martin Luther King’s dream arrived, can understand how far we’ve come to achieving what the USA was meant to be in the first place. As an American of fifty-two years, I’ve been a witness to the news which told me the historical truth. What we resist will persist, and we’ve been resisting change for way too long. Still, the fact remains that whatever we do or say in the USA, the whole world is watching. Technology has a way of revealing the truth.

Today on digital and high speed TV, the whole world is still watching, and as a matter of fact, we can also clearly see what the world thinks of us, Americans. We see the reality at any time, day or night. That’s why on election night, It was very clear to me that the entire world was swept up with an emotional elation of what was and is world wide good news. How inspired the world became to see Obama, a man who finally inspired the hope and faith it takes to improve the whole word’s hope and faith too. Obama gave hope to the world when he finally arrived on the American scene. It must have been a huge relief, or at least it was for me when I witnessed the massive world wide celebration. It was nothing short of a miraculous sense of peace and world wide well being. How strange it feels to feel that way today at my age.Who’d have thought someone like I used to be, would have voted for anyone but McCain in 2008? I, like so many Republican conservative Americans, was so afraid of change that Obama might have terrified me, had my eyes and mind not been opened by the hope and faith Obama gave. While McCain’s campaign was based on fear, dread, doom and gloom, Obama’s was based on hope and faith. He made me feel proud to be an American. That fact was enough to change my mind and open my eyes to the truth of what it takes to make a nation great. Apparently, Obama opened more eyes than mine, but that’s just what great human beings, destined to lead, do to improve our view. They change entire nations, world wide, by changing one mind at a time. They inspire us to sacrifice, give back and face what makes us afraid, not only for the sake of the USA, but for the sake of mankind.
