FEAR BASED DEBATES: A DISGRACE TO THE UNITED STATES
When it comes to politics, some American’s can be down right rude, but when it comes to what makes us afraid in the USA, we can even go insane. Fear based debates make otherwise upright Americans rant and rave in your face and they won’t shut up long enough for you to get a word in edgewise. Besides, if you happen to disagree with their political philosophy, they’ll patronize you into going insane too. That’s why fear based debates create the hate that always leads to strife. When we refuse to listen to a new point of view, we shouldn’t wonder why the economy sucks or why other countries hate our guts so much.
Even so and although we claim to live within, “The land of the brave,” we’re all afraid. We behave like chickens who hen peck the truth. We freely choose to look through a view of doom and gloom. We abuse our civil rights as an excuse to be rude. It happens all the time, so I don’t know why I’m always surprised by how rude, crude and socially unacceptable some Americans can be in a public place, just because they have the right to free speech. They’ll say it’s a debate, but when they refuse to allow you to use your right to freely speak too, what they do is equivalent to a terrorist attack. That’s why I’d say that you should be ashamed if you use fear based ways to communicate what you debate. People who rant, rave, insult and patronize the other side all the time are those who disgrace what free speech was intended to bring. That’s not what liberty means.
When it comes to the truth, opinions will tend to lean to the right or the left, but the truth is always actually seen somewhere between the two political views. Liberty means that we need to step into someone else’s shoes and look through a new view before we’ll ever see the truth. In fact, there are more than a few fellow Americans who refer to me as, “A poor little liberal,” who’s too naive to see the truth if it hit me between my legally blind eyes, and although that’s a lie, I’m too polite to say in reply, “Why don’t you stick your fear based debates in a place where the sun never shines.” Fear based debates create hate which always leads to strife, and besides, I’ve got more to do with my time than to fight day and night. The audacity of me holding onto hope and faith seems to terrify some American’s minds.
Since this is still a free country, so to speak, it seems to me that even I have the right to get a word in edgewise. That’s why it might be wise for you who seem to be so afraid to listen to those of us who choose to hold onto hope and faith. Isn’t that what made the USA great in the first place? You can’t say you live within the land of the brave if you choose to be afraid of change. You can’t claim to believe in liberty if you refuse to look through a diverse view of the truth. You can’t say a democracy is all about free enterprise when greed exceeds some of our rights to achieve, “The American dream,” too. How dare you patronize me, as if your right winged conservative view had anything to do with the truth of MY reality. Besides, you just might have to step into my shoes someday soon. That’s why it might be wise if you will agree to at least be polite when I use my right to say what I think. Just open your mind and listen to the other guy sometimes. Otherwise, all you’ll do is fight and all you’ll create is hate and the facts will remain the same.
As great as free enterprise is and will always be, the obsessive need to achieve the American dream can lead to greed which creates thieves who rob the rest of us blind. It happens when politicians use and abuse the constitution in self serving ways that leave the rest of us to survive the economic demise they leave behind. Then, they’ll use fear based ways to try to make us afraid of anyone who dares to go out on a limb and do something different. It’s as if their need to be right exceeds my right to free speech and that’s why we are all confused. Being rude is a huge issue and fear based debates are the biggest mistake we make in the USA.
Let’s keep in mind that we only hate what makes us afraid and we are only afraid of what we can’t understand. Fear based debates create hate which leads to nothing but strife. It benefits no one’s life. It’s a huge waste of time. That’s why it’s wise to listen to the other guy sometimes, with open minds and eyes. We must face what makes us afraid, and when we do, we must choose to look through a view of hope and faith. Otherwise, the monsters we create will keep biting our behinds all the time.
