GOOD NEWS FOR THE GOP: A BUNCH OF OLD FEAR BASED QUOTES TO INSPIRE HOPE

Published by vphipps at 5:22 pm under news, politics Edit This

The other day I decided to re-visit a bunch of old fear based quotes that I’d memorized long ago, just to make sure that I had each and every word memorized right in my mind. The good news is that I did, and since I’ve already faced the monsters in my mind, fear no longer bites my behind all the time. That’s why I’d like to share all those old fear based quotes with you who are still so afraid that you are driving everyone in the United States insane. So here you go GOP, and as you read, I’ll hold onto all your hope.

1. The first one seems to fit a bunch of conservative republicans to a tee.

Bernard Russell expressed it best when he said, “Collective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd.”

2. This quote addresses those monsters in your mind that bite our society’s behind all the time.

“The most destructive element in the human mind is fear. Fear creates aggressiveness.” Dorothy Thompson

They say wisdom comes from experience, so apparently the author of this quote knows what it’s like to experience an American town hall meeting to discuss the issues that drive us nuts.

3. This will express best the way fear makes people claim to see monsters in and within everything.

Once again, the experience of Dorothy Thompson wisely advised, “There is nothing to fear except the persistent refusal to find out the truth, the persistent refusal to analyze the causes of happenings.”

It seems to me that when we make a ludicrous statement and state that it’s a fact when the facts remain to be seen, it means one of two things: You are hallucinating, or You are telling a bold faced lie to hide behind monsters in our minds.

4. To those who remain afraid of change:

” Fear grows in darkness; if you think there’s a bogeyman around, turn on the light.”

In other words, this unknown wise guy might have said, “Please get a grip, open your eyes and mind so that you can get over it.” By “it” I mean whatever it is that makes you afraid.

5. To those who won’t go out on a limb and do something different now and then.

H. Jackson Brown said, “Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is.” Still, another way to say the same thing might be this, and I’ll quote me: “It’s insane to see the need for change but refuse to go out on a limb and do something different.”

6. This quote makes me want  to sing along with a song written by Sheryl Crow.

“When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest.” By Henry David Thoreau

What Thoreau said was great advice but I still like Sheryl Crow’s advice. “I just want to have fun, so I’m gonna soak up the sun while it’s still free.” After that, she exclaimed as she sang, “I’m gonna tell everyone to lighten up, please.”

7. Once again this addresses the fear of change and the stuff that makes us insane.

James F. Bynes explained, ” Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity. They seem to be more afraid of life than death.” I suppose that I don’t need to add another fact to that.

8. Just a thought that I’ll bet no one has thought of yet.

“Let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness.” By James Thurber

Now THAT’S a thought we should think about for at least a week before we speak.

9. This quote states a fact that remains the same today, which is the fact that fear is more often than not based on ignorance, not facts.

Still, Marie Curie used more tact when she said, “Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.”

10. Regarding what fear based debates do to the USA.

Marilyn Ferguson sates, “Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is a freedom.” How true. Insanity IS a prison!

11. This quote describes why it’s wise to listen to the other guy sometimes.

“You can judge your age by the amount of pain you feel when you come in contact with a new idea.” Pearl S. Buck

She’s right! Otherwise, you’re bitter old soul will make you grow old long before your time.

12. The best quote yet and a new thought for you!

“Keep your fears to yourself, but share your inspiration with others.” Robert Louis Stevenson must be the wisest guy alive!

13. A blast from the past but the facts remain today.

“I steer my bark with hope in the head, leaving fear astern. My hopes indeed sometimes fail, but not oftener than the forebodings of the gloomy.” Thomas Jefferson

Who knew Thomas Jefferson knew what we’d need to hear him say today?

14. Last but not least, please listen to those who know more than YOU.

Once again, let’s listen to the wisdom of Thomas Jefferson who said, “Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because you see, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear.”

PLEASE: If you’re going to be terrified, make sure that you are afraid of something real and not a monster in your closed mind! Listen to reason sometimes, and you’ll see why it’s insane to not only believe, but state out loud in a crowd that Barack Obama is a communist who wants to take over the United States so that he can rule the world someday…or that he is really an Arabic terrorist, among a bunch of other ridiculous claims insane people make. Okay? It’s such a disgrace to the United States and it takes all hope and faith away, so please stop being afraid before you drive us all insane.
